Workplace wellbeing goes far beyond stress management or wellness perks. It speaks to the holistic experience of the employee - how safe, resilient, and aligned they feel with their work, and whether they can meet daily demands without sacrificing their mental and emotional health.
In a time when work is becoming increasingly demanding — psychologically, cognitively, and socially - wellbeing has become a strategic priority. For organizations seeking long-term performance, retention and employee engagement, the wellbeing conversation is no longer optional.
The new 2025 EY Greece survey paints a clear picture of the current workplace reality:
Τhe psychological toll of work is growing, and the gap between what employees need and what organizations offer is widening.
Let’s break down the key insights:
🔵 Wellbeing & Stress
Only 48% of employees say they can manage their stress (down from 52% in 2023).
66% report that job stress spills into their personal life.
55% feel anxious about the future (geopolitics, economy, environment).
37% are worried about how tech like AI and automation will impact their jobs.
32% have experienced some form of workplace harassment in the last 2 years, affecting their mental health.
Still, some positive signs remain:
61% feel adaptable to change.
79% believe they can make good decisions.
🔵 Performance & Mental Fatigue
The impact on performance is real:
61% feel drained at the start of their workday.
4 in 10 struggle to stay focused.
Only 30% feel motivated and joyful at work (down from 37% in 2023).
🔵 Support From Employers
There’s a striking gap between what’s offered and what’s needed:
Only 21% believe their employer supports their mental health.
Just 33% know where to turn for internal support.
Only 23% feel safe talking openly about mental health at work.
Leadership is not yet equipped:
Only 28% say their manager checks in regularly to see how they’re doing.
Just 29% feel comfortable opening up to them about stress or emotional challenges.
What employees ask for:
Better selection and training of team leaders (48%, 47%)
Leadership training on stress care and emotional wellbeing
A culture of time-respect (46%)
Access to an in-house psychologist (42%)
🔵 Remote Work: still valued, but with concerns
88% value the option to work remotely.
60% feel more productive working from home.
Only 8% report higher stress from remote work — down from 23% in 2021.
However, only 45% feel confident they can grow their career remotely.
🔵 Mental Health Awareness Is Rising
79% care more about their own and others’ mental health.
69% would seek help from a professional if experiencing anxiety.
45% believe progress has been made in reducing stigma (up from 38% in 2023).
